With the inception of the Quarry Regulations 1999 www.hse.gov.uk
many systems within the quarrying industry that were carried out routinely
had to be modified. No longer could the systems be informal and as
a result they now have to be reported formally. We can devise
systems suited to your company requirements to ensure your Quarry
Managers continue to comply with the Quarry Regulations. We can also advise on all
aspects of the Quarry Regulations 30-38.

Appraisal of Excavation of Tips
Regulation 32 states that all excavations and tips (including
lagoons and stockpiles) should be subjected
to an appraisal by a competent person on a regular basis dependant
on the risk posed by the significant hazard. In addition, if a significant
change occurs within the quarry ie a sinking is created; a face advance
direction changed; a new geological feature exposed that was not anticipated,
then an appraisal should be carried out. This has to be carried out
by a competent person ie a trained operational person, a geologist
or a geotechnical engineer. The appraisal will determine whether a
geotechnical assessment is required or not. We have experience in
carrying out appraisals of hard rock and sand and gravel sites.
